Write out what we know as an expression: 2/3 + 1/5
What the LCM for the 2 denominators: the LCM is 15
change the fractions, so they share a common denominator:

Re-write the expression: 10/15 + 3/15
10/15 + 3/15 = 13/15
Now that we got that, we need to figure out the last part. We want to know how much he saved, which the problem says is the remaining wages.
So, how many 15ths are left? We have 13 out of 15, so the remaining will be our answer: 15 - 13 = 2
