The lines 8x+6=2y and 3x=ky-10 are parallel. Find the value of k.

Answer:

k=3/4

Explanation:

So parallel lines have equal slopes but different y-intercepts

First line is y=4x+3 (divide by 2 and simplify) and second line is
y=(3x+10)/(k)

We only care about slope, so

First slope is 4 and the second slope is (3/k), so

4=3/k, find k using cross multiplication

4k=3, so k=3/4
