To support that the USA has a “considerable sway in the world,” the author states that even today and even in the midst of adversity, the USA is able to extend its interests and have requests fulfilled everywhere in the world, like any other great power . This affects American diplomacy positively, because it shows that it is favorable for other countries to meet the specifications that the USA.

The author reinforces this argument, saying that this is due to the successful American economy, which makes most countries see friendship with the USA as something beneficial and in order not to lose that friendship they end up doing what American diplomacy proposes.
