Distribute -5 into the parentheses, you get
(-10y+40)-3(1+x)-7
Distribute -3, you get
-10y+40-3+3x-7
Combine like terms, the only like terms are 40, -3, and -7 which gives you 30
The equation is now
-10y+30-3x
