Apples are on sale for $0.95 per pound. Selena bought 2.8 pounds of apples. How much money did she pay for apples (round to the nearest hundredth)?

Answer:

$2.66

Explanation:

2.8x.95

you set it up as a normal multiplication problem, with the decimals lining up

and put zeros in for number substitutes where there are no lined up numbers

and do the problem like a normal multiplication problem.

once you’ve got the numbers added up at the bottom you count all the spaces behind the decimal with numbers,

which will give you four

you then take the second number of your finished answer and go out four spaces

you then deduct any 0’s with no purpose

that will leave you with 2.66

i’m bad at explaining things but i hope this helped
