The line y = -2x - 7 crosses the y-axis at y = -7 and the x-axis at x = -7/2.

Likewise, the line y = 3x - 2 crosses the y-axis at y = -2 and the x-axis at x = 2/3.

If you accurately graph the two lines in the graph above, they will intersect at the point (-1, -5).
