What does scientific method mean in science.

Basically a way that scientists test certain hypothesis to find an answer. It’s supposed to be based off of logical evidence. Take this for example. A fresh water lake freezes over faster then a ocean. A logical and testable answer would be that maybe since there is salt in the ocean it keeps from freezing more. An illogical and untestable answer would be that a fairy freezes it. It order for the scientific method to work, you need a logical and testable answer!

the scientific method is a series of steps or procedures that scientists or anyone who has a question follows to answer any question that they may have. (it's in my own words)
