3x + 2y = 14
Substitute x - 3 in the y spot.
3x + 2(x - 3) = 14
Distribute
3x + 2x - 6 = 14
Combine liked terms
5x - 6 = 14
+6 on both sides
5x = 20
/5 on both sides
x = 4
Substitute x in one of the equations.
y = x - 3
y = 4 - 3
y = 1
Answer:
y = 1
