-8(x + 1) + 3(x - 2) = -3x + 2?

First you need to distribute the -8
So you would get -8x-8 now distribute the 3 so it would be 3x-6
-8x-8+3x-6=-3+2 is how it should look
Now combine the -8x and 3x cause their like terms and also -8 and -6
-5x-14=-3x+2 now add -3 to both sides
-2x-14=2 and add 14 to both sides
-2x=12 all left to do is divide both by -2
X=-6
