Solve for x: the quantity of x plus 20 over 2 = 3x

x = 10

x = 4

x = −14

x = −17

The answer is 4 because when you add four to 20 it gives you 24 and then you divide that by 2 which will give you 12 and then you can make sure it’s right by plugging it in which would be 3 times 4 for x which gives you exactly 12.
