Explanation:

Area of a triangle is directly proportional to the base and height of the triangle.

Let B and H be the original base and height of the triangle respectively.

The new triangle has base 1.3B and height 1.3H

Area of original triangle : Area of new triangle

= 0.5BH : 0.5(1.3B)(1.3H)

= 0.5BH : 0.5(1.69BH)

= 1 : 1.69

Hence, the new triangle is 69% larger than the original triangle.
