What is the value for x when using algebra tiles to solve the equation x + 1 = –x + (–5)? PLEASE HELP ME!!

Answer:

x=-3

Explanation:

First u have to bring te variable to one side and numbers for the other side. so to remove -x from the right side add x and as to balance the eqaution u have to add x for the left side too.

x+1+x=-x+(-5)+x

then it becomes,

2x+1 = -5

Now to remove +1from the left side substract 1 from both sides.

2x+1 -1 = -5-1

Now the equation is like,

2x =-6

Now divide the equation by 2

2x/2 = -6/2

then,

x = -3

So itis simply like this,

x+1 = x-5

2x=-6

x=-3
