then it becomes,

2x+1 = -5

Now to remove +1from the left side substract 1 from both sides.

2x+1 -1 = -5-1

Now the equation is like,

2x =-6

Now divide the equation by 2

2x/2 = -6/2

then,

x = -3

So itis simply like this,

x+1 = x-5

2x=-6

x=-3
