Set the denominator in x2−25x−5x2-25x-5 equal to 0 to find where the expression is undefined.
x−5=0x-5=0
Add 5 to both sides of the equation.
x=5x=5
The domain is all values of x that make the expression defined.
Interval Notation:
(−∞,5)∪(5,∞)
(-∞,5)∪(5,∞)
Set-Builder Notation:
x≠5x≠5
Since the domain is not all real numbers, f(x)=x2−25x−5
f(x)=x2-25x-5 is not continuous over all real numbers.
Not continuous
