In simple words, The founders of the Iroquois did never accumulate worldly resources. Males were the main voices in government, but females have been the force driving them. Women leaders in the territory chose men to serve in Council meetings, which became the main method of resolving group issues.

The Iroquois provided a kind of elected democracy. Each community of that same Iroquois League seems to have its own appointed representatives called the chiefs. Such chiefs would participate the Iroquois Assembly, where important decisions are made with respect to the five countries. Each tribal group also has its own leadership to make effective decisions, too.
