Steve had $45 and spent 2/9 of his money on socks. If each pair of socks cost $2.50, how many pairs did Steve buy?

Answer:

4 pairs of socks.

Explanation:

$44 dollars and divide that by 9

44 / 9 = 5

As the fraction is 2/9 and not 1/9, then the 5 would be 10, so

$10

$10 / $2.50 = 4

You take the $10 and divide that by each pair of socks to get the total amout of pairs.
