4/10 + 5/10 = 9/10

Explanation:

beacause the denomenator remains the same, you need not to do anything with it. however, you add 5 to the 4 to get 9

All we need to do, is take the starting point (4/10), how much we are adding by (5/10), and the end point (9/10).

We put everything together into an equation.

4/10 + 5/10 = 9/10
