Answer:

The Tyrant of Syracuse story takes place in 300BC, about a ruler of Sicily named Dionysius. Dionysius had much authority and a terrible temper. Some wicked men who wished to seek nice treasures and fortunes flattered Dionysius, inflating Dionysius' ego to which he thought he could do anything he pleased. One day he decided to try poetry. His writing was terrible, yet for the same reason, in hopes for treasures, the men all said it was great, making Dionysius think he was actually good at poetry. So, he decided to send his work too Philoxenus. Philoxenus thought the writing was terrible and didn't even deserve the name of poetry. And for this remark Dionysius put Philoxenus in his dungeon prison where he would stay weeks, even. One day Dionysius brought Philoxenus out of the prison to test another one of his works. Philoxenus says "Take me back to the quarries!" basically stating he would rather stay in prison than not telling the truth. From his courage, Dionysius just sent him home.
