Regular verbs in the passé composé follow a formula to

form the past participle
1. Regular -ER verbs:
drop the -ER and add an → é
manger → mangé
2. Regular -IR verbs:
drop the -IR and and an →
finir →
3. Regular -RE verbs:
drop the -RE and add a → u
→ vendu

In words ending in -IR, we drop the -IR and add i.

For example, finir in passé composé would become fini.

J'ai fini

Tu as fini

Il a fini

Nous avons fini

Vous avez fini

Ils ont fini
