Does a half step have 1 note in between or 0 notes in between

theoretically it would have “half” a note in between. a half step moves chromatically, ex. c to c# to d to d# to e to f etc. so it is neither 0 or 1 but i guess you could say 1 note seeing as c and c# are different notes just as c and f are.
