-3x because there is always an invisible one infront of a variable with no number and since those are now like terms it changes to
-4x-1x or -4x-+1x which is just making the number smaller

Answer:

A, -5x

Step-by-step explanation:

Say x = 1. -4x - x would equal -4(1) -(1), or -4 -1, which is -5. Or if x is, say, 7.

-4(7) = 28, and then - 7 = 35, which is 5 times 7.
