Explanation:

The height from the vertex is a perpendicular bisector of the isosceles Δ

This line divides the triangle into 2 right triangles with hypotenuse 13

Thus each right triangle is a 5- 12- 13 with legs 5 and 12

The height is 12 cm and the base 5 cm

Then the base of the isosceles Δ = 2 × 5 cm = 10 cm

Note Area = 0.5 × 10 × 12 = 60 cm²
