Use the law of conservation of momentum to determine the answer to the

flowing question: In this group, there are two hockey pucks, both with a mass of
0.25 kg. One is traveling at 2 m/s. The other is at rest. What is the momentum of
this group of objects?

Given :

Two hockey of same mass.

One is travelling at a speed of 2 m/s.

Other is in rest or 0 m/s.

To Find :

The momentum of this group of objects.

Solution :

Since , no external force is applied , so momentum will remains same :

Momentum of group of objects ,


M = mv_1^2+mv_2^2\\\\M = 0.25* 2^2+0.25* 0\\\\M=1 \ kg \ m/s

Therefore , momentum of the system is 1 kg m/s.

Hence , this is the required solution.
