Let's solve this problem step by step:

⇒ on one side, I solve the equaiton

⇒ on the other side, I give you the property that I use to solve the

equation

⇒ you don't need to write down those properties if your teachers

didn't ask you for it


4(5x-2)=2(9x+3)\\ | Given equation


20x-8=19x+6 | Distributive Multiplication over subtract/add


x=14 | Subtraction Property of Equality

Answer: x = 14

Definition of Properties:

  • Distributive Property of Multiplication over subtraction/addition: it says that the product of a number and the difference/adding of two other numbers is equal to the difference/sum between the products of the distributed number.
  • Subtraction Property of Equality: if the same value is subtracted from two equal sides, the differences remain the same
