Step(i):-

Given 4 x + 5 y = 9 ..(i)

- 11 x - 9 y = - 20 ...(ii)

Multiply 11 by (i) and multiply 4 by (ii)

44 x + 55 y = 99 ...(a)

- 44 x - 36 y = -80...(b)

Adding above equations (a) and (b) , we get

19 y = 19

y = 1

Step(ii):-

substitute y =1 in equation (i) , we get

4 x + 5 y = 9

4 x + 5 = 9

4 x = 4

x =1

Final answer:-

The solution of the given two linear equations are

x = 1 and y =1
