Please help...... What is the difference between the denotative and connotative meaning of a word?

Denotative is literal or serious. Connotative is an idea or feeling.

The Denotative is the literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests. The Connotation is an idea or feeling that a word invokes in addition to its literal or primary meaning.
