When the fossils are deeper down in the ground that means they are older. This is how scientists are able to determine what time period an animal lived in, by seeing how deep down there fossil is.

each layer is a process made by earths weather or geology. if you understand what i’m getting at , the more layers the older because it has to go through a change to add another layer or in some situations take away. you can tell how old it is by how old the species prints are that you’re looking at as well.
