SUBTRACT 1 to BOTH SIDES

2x + 1 - 1 < 5 - 1

SIMPLIFY IT!
2x < 5 - 1

2x < 4


DIVIDE 2 to BOTH SIDES

2x/2 < 4/2

SIMPLIFY IT!
x < 4/2

x < 2


Therefore, your answer is: x < 2
