4x - 6 = x + 9

4x - 6 - x - 9 = x + 9 - x - 9 [Subtract x + 9 from both sides]

3x - 15 = 0

3x - 15 + 15 = 0 + 15 [Add 15 to both sides]

3x = 15

3x/3 = 15/3 [Divide both sides by 3]

x = 5
