1. Digging holes in the hot sun can turn a bad boy into a good one because of the pure heat alone is punishment. 2. Stanley's family sent him there because he was "caught" stealing shoes. 3. Scapegoating is putting the blame on others. For instance if I was to cheat on a test and then put it on my friend Brad then that is scapegoating. It makes people feel good because it gives them the satisfaction of knowing that they got away with it. 4. Being hopeful can be a curse because it gets your hopes up and then when you find out the opposite happened then if crushes you and makes you feel helpless. 5. They call Mr. Pendanski "mom" because he treats them like an abusive parent. But he is still in charge of taking care of them. 6.
