Why did small states like the system of representation in the Articles of Confederation?

The Articles of Confederation set up a unicameral congress. This means it had just one law making chamber. Every state had one vote regardless of population. Therefore, small states like Rhode Island and Delaware had the same say in everything as Pennsylvania and New York, even though they had much less people, so they really liked this system of representation.
