We have to use the pythagorean theorem in other to find the resulting speed.

So,

Speed² = 35² + 15²

Such that

Speed = √35² + 15²

Speed = sqr(1225 + 225)

Speed = sqr(1450)

Speed = 38.08

The approximate resulting speed of the boat is therefore 38.08mph
