  • Age of brother=x
  • Age of boy be x+8

After four years their age..

  • brother=x+4
  • Boy=x+8

So

ATQ

  • Boy will be twice as brother
  • 2(x+4)=x+8
  • 2x+8=x+8
  • x=2x

We need to solve through equation then

  • x=y+8
  • x+8=2y+8=>x=2y

Now

From both

  • y+8=2y
  • y=8yrs

Now younger brother=8-4=4yrs

Answer:

The boy's age is 8, the younger brother's age is 4.

  • What we know is that the first brother has to be 8, because the equation given is x = y(younger brother) + 8
  • Now we must solve the equation based off of this.

x = y + 8\\x(likely~8?) + 4 = 2 * (y + 4)

  • Hmm. What would the product of twice the sum of the younger brother's age be?

x = 2*y

  • If we have already found out that the older brother's age is currently 8, we know that that 8 + 4 is 12, and in that case, the 2 must be the current age apart the brothers are, 2 years. And that would mean the younger brother is 4. Let's finish the equation.

To find the younger brother's age using the given values...

8 + 4 = 12

That said, everything matches up with the equation. The first brother is twice the age of his younger brother.
