Your question has been heard loud and clear.

Length of XY is = 3x+1+8x-24 = 3x+8x + 1 -24 = 11x - 23

Length of XY = 11x-23

x= 5

Length of XY = 11(5)-23 = 32

Thank you

Answer:

32

Explanation:

Point M is the midpoint of XY since it is a bisector. Thus, XM = MY.

3x+1=8x-24

Subtract 1 from both sides:

3x+1-1=8x-24-1

3x=8x-25

Subtract 8x from both sides:

3x-8x=8x-25-8x

-5x=-25

Divide both sides by -5:

(-5x)/(-5)=(-25)/(-5)

x=5

XM=3x+1=3(5)+1=15+1=16

MY=8x-24=8(5)-24=40-24=16

XY=16+16=32
