The outside of a rectangular picture frame measures 10 in. by 11 in. and has a 1-in. border. What is the area of the border?

Answer:

156in²

Explanation:

Area of the border = Length * Breadth

If the outside measures 10in by 11in with 1-in border, the length of the picture with border = 10+(1+1) * 11+(1+1)

Area of the border = 12*13

Area of the border = 156in²

Note that the border length will be added at both edges of the frames for each length and the width of the frame
