Answer and Explanation:

The colonies had an identity crisis after signing the Declaration of Independence because the colonies didn't know how to rule a country. They had always been under the king so they didn't know what to do or how to do it. They were confused and they needed a form of government before it all collapsed. They didn't understand they were free from Britain.
