Answer:

-23

Explanation:

3.5 (x+20) = 6 + .75 (x+1)

First off you'll have to distribute the x values, leaving....

3.5x + 70 = 6 + .75x + .75

Now you have to simplify,

3.5x + 70 = 6 + .75x + .75

- 6 - 6

3.5x + 64 = .75x + .75

Here we can now get rid of the .75

3.5x + 64 = .75x + .75

- .75 -.75

3.5x + 63.25 = .75x

To get rid of the last x value we subtract from both sides;

3.5x + 63.25 = .75x

-3.5x -3.5x

63.25 = -2.75x

Then divide to isolate the variable.

63.25 ÷ -2.75

to get -23 as the answer.

Sorry this is really long, but hopefully it helps! Have a great day!
