Answer:

The reason it was a big impact on people was because of how it made African Americans feel, he related to them and took leadership which they thought would never happen. He also put out how he had kids and how he wanted them to be safe in the world. The whites would want that for their kids as well and that's something he wanted to affect them as well so they would open up and tear down the separation between them

Martin Luther King Jr. influenced many American citizens because he brought struggles of people of color to light. He brought out their point of view, and did not skew or white-wash what he thought, which previous black right's activists might have done. He told America what he dreamed America to be, perhaps even the perfect America. Many people agreed, and listened, because his choice of words made it sound like a happy place to be in. Many people, not just limited to black people, heard his dreams, and realized that it was their dream too.
