Assuming that you are asking for a:

Linear-Function the travels through the points of ( 4 , 10 ) and ( 8 , 17 )

First you must find the slope of the line, you find it with this formula:

M = ( Y2 - Y1 ) / ( X2 - X1 )

When we input the values, the new equation is:

M = ( 17 - 10 ) / ( 8 - 4 )

Now we can simplify it into:

M = ( 7 ) / ( 4 )

7 / 4 is also equivalent to: 1 . 75

We can now write out the Slope-Intercept form function:

F ( x ) = 1 . 75 x + b

To find the B value, we must input a set of points into the X and F(x).

I will be using ( 4 , 10 ) for this. The function is now:

10 = 1 . 75 (4) + b

When we simplify it, the function is now: 10 = 7 + b

In order for this function to be possible, b must be equal to 3!!!

This means that the final function will be:
