Why do some stars seem to move faster than others over the course of the night

The rotation of the Earth causes this movement. We watch stars rising in the East, passing overhead, and setting in the West as the Earth spins eastward at over one thousand miles per hour. The Sun, Moon, and planets appear to travel through the sky in the same way as the stars do.
