Write a rational function that can be used to model the race, where the independent variable represents the average speed in Km/hour and the dependent variable represents the time in hours it takes to complete the race.

What type of variation function is it?

Answer:

T = D / S

Explanation:

Distance 'd' = Time 't' x Speed 's'

Ex: If speed= 2km/hr & time taken = 2hrs. So, distance covered = 2x2 = 4km

Hence, Time 't' = Distance 'd' / Speed 's'

This is the rational function representing relationship between : dependent (effect) variable - time, & independent (causal) variable - speed.

This is a type of 'inverse or negative relationship' variation function. As, higher speed implies lower time & vice versa.
