To create a scale copy, all length of the segments that makes up the original figure is multiplied by a certain number to get the new length of all segments of the scaled copy. That number is the scale factor.

The ratio of the corresponding side lengths of the scaled copy and the original copy = the scale factor.

In polygon PQRS (scaled), length of side PS = 3 units.

In polygon ABCD (original figure), length of side AD = 2 units.

PS corresponds with AD.

Therefore,
(PS)/(AD) = scale factor.

Scale factor
= (3)/(2) = 1.5
