Y varies directly as x and inversely as z. y=100 when x=5 and z=10. Find y when x=3 and z=60.

Formula you are going to use:
y=(kx)/(z)

you will use k to help you resolve for y :)


  1. y=(kx)/(z)

  2. 100=(5k)/(10)

  3. 100=(k)/(2) (multiply by 2 to cancel the fraction)
  4. 200 = k

Now you will replace k with 200 :)


  1. y=(kx)/(z)

  2. y=(3(200))/(60)

  3. y=(600)/(10)
  4. y = 10
