Chelsea's school is selling tickets to a choral performance. On the first day of ticket sales the school sold 3 adult tickets and 9 child tickets for a total of $75. The school took in $90 on the second day by selling 12 adult tickets and 1 child ticket. Find the price of an adult ticket and the price of a child ticket.

Answer:

$7 for an adult ticket

$6 for a child ticket

Explanation:

Add up the total child and adult tickets from both the days.

Adult tickets - 15

Child tickets- 10

Then I divided 165 but 25 and got 6.6.

The child ticket should be less than the adult so I guessed that the adult would be around $7 and the child ticket would be around 6.

I double checked my work by doing...

3*7 giving me 21

and

9*6 giving me 54.

Then I added these up to get $75 which was the total from the first day. This shows that our answer is correct
