Answer:

11602.7 miles

Explanation:

Given

Original tire circumference = 81.3 in

New tire label: 235/65R18

As per label we have: 235 mm - width (W), 65 mm- height to width ratio (H), 18 in- rim size (R)

The tyre circumference is derived from the formula:

  • C = π × (R + 2 × H/100 × W)

Circumference of the new tire is:

  • C = π × (18 × 25.4 mm + 2 × (65/100) x 235 mm) = 2 396.09 mm
  • 2 396.09 mm / 25.4 = 94.33 in

The distance actally travelled:

  • 94.33* 10000/81.3 = 11602.7 miles
