Describe how you felt when you heard Smith point out how presidents like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson oppressed human beings through slavery. Were you aware that these men owned enslaved people?

Answer:

I felt a deep sadness knowing how deep, and normal slavery was back then, for the American founding fathers, who believed so much and fought for the "freedom of the American people" to big time slave owners. The irony in the freedom that was sustained by slavery.

I have been aware of these facts for quite some time now, and I've been appalled by it. I must confess that it took me time to imagine what slaves had gone through during these years of slavery. A horrible experience it must have been for them back then.
