The length of a rectangle is five times it’s width. If the perimeter of the rectangle is 120 yd, find it’s area

Answer:

Because the Length is 5 times the width, L(length) = 5w. You can use this information to update your perimeter.

P= L + W

P= 5w + w = 6w

P = 120, 120= 6w

120/6 = 6w/6

20 = w

L = 5w, L = 5(20) = 100

A = L x W, 100 x 20 = 2000

This means 2000 is the area
