When the population of a region increases, the land pattern use of that region changes too.

This is what has happened throughout history.

Usually, when the population of a region grows a lot, the distributions tends to become more urban, and less rural, because cities agglomerate and support larger populations in a smaller area.

Population density also increases, both in urban and rural areas.
