Answer: Analyzing evidence to build an explanation of past events.

Step-by-step explanation:

Historical Inquiry is the method used by Historians to better understand the events of the past. First they pick a subject of interest such as the Hohokam Native American farming irrigation. Then they ask question that they need to be answered to better understand the subject such as, How did they irrigate their crops in the arid condition of the desert?

The next step would then be to collect evidence to help them answer their questions for instance going to previous Hohokam settlements or looking at rock paintings.

After that they will then analyze the evidence to find out the answer to their questions and this will then help them explain the events of the past for instance, the Hohokam irrigated their crops by using canals.
