The abscissa is the x- coordinate and the ordinate is the y- coordinate.

Here b = 2a , thus

a + 2a = - 12

3a = - 12 ( divide both sides by 3 )

a = - 4

and b = 2a = 2 Ă— - 4 = - 8

P(- 4, - 8 )
