A car drives at 50 km/h from City P to City Q. 2 hours later, a motorcycle drives 75 km/h begins the same journey from City P to City Q, taking the same route as the car. How long does it take to catch up to the car?​

t = t for the second car. This is the time to catch the first car.

t = t + 2 for the first car

r = 50 km/h for the first car

r = 75 miles per hour.

The trick to this question is realizing that both cars have to go the same distance.

50*(t + 2) = 75 * t Remove the brackets

50 t + 100 = 75t Subtract 50t from both sides

100 = 75t - 50 t

100 = 25t Divide by 25

100/25 = t

t = 4 hours.
